Bookweek Parade 2018

24/08/2018

Tip 1:

Have your children look at the characters in the books they borrow to see if they can find anything in their cupboard that would suit.  Sometimes it's just a matter of matching a coloured shirt with jeans and adding some sort of prop.

Tip 2:

Sometimes all you may need to pull together a costume are some coordinating colours and a homemade mask. Some character ideas that would work for this could be...Brown Bear (The Very Cranky Bear), Black Cat (Slinky Malinki). You could try  a coloured T-Shirt over jeans with white or red sneakers with big paper coloured buttons. (Pete the Cat series)

Tip 3:

Visit cheap shops for simple props such as capes, wigs, novelty headbands or masks that can be added to normal clothes to create a cheap costume.  Some easy characters could be a scarecrow, mouse or rabbit.

Tip 4:

The tip of the week is GET STARTED!! Have a discussion with your children to find out at least a couple of ideas.  Search your house for anything that you can use and then make a list of what else you need.  Ask friends or relatives if they ahve anything on your list otherwise involve your children in either making or sourcing the needed items.
