Performance and achievements

Burpengary State School has a tradition of academic excellence since 1876 and we work hard to ensure that we are the school of first choice for the local community.  As an accredited International school, Burpengary also has an International reputation, attracting overseas fee-paying students to study on our campus.

Key School Opinion Survey Data reflected in our latest 2015 data shows that:

  • 93.2% of students are satisfied that they are getting a good education at our school.
  • 94.5% of parents/caregivers are satisfied that their children are getting a good education at our school.
  • 94.5% of parents/caregivers agree their child feels safe.
  • 95.6% of parents/caregivers agree that teachers at this school motivate their child to learn.
  • 98.6% of staff agree that this is a good school.

Burpengary State School students have a 93.3% Attendance Rate.

Class sizes: 

Where class size targets are 25 students in Prep to Year 3, our average class size is 23 students, and where class size targets are 28 students in Years 4-6, our average class size is 23.7 students.

Sport achievements:

Through the Queensland State Primary Schools Sports Association, students have the opportunity to represent their school, District, Region, State and Australia at National levels in a wide variety of individual and team sports.  Our Honour Board reflects representation at all of these levels by Burpengary State School students.

The Arts:

Burpengary State School showcases a Biennial Arts Festival where the whole school performs and exhibits art works from Prep to Year 6. Our school also has award-winning Choir, Concert Band and Strings Ensemble, all nurtured through junior choirs, band and ensemble, and taught by experienced and highly talented music and instrumental music teachers. 

The Department of Education, Training and Employment: Teaching and Learning Audit: 

The external auditors who conducted the departmental Teaching and Learning Audit commended the teaching staff for their commitment to the successful implementation of the Australian Curriculum, and their significant commitment to professional development. 

The auditors also affirmed our strong work across a diverse range of areas of the school including ICTs, the Art and Science of Teaching pedagogical framework, differentiation of learning for all students in all classrooms, the Life Skills Program, the Special Education Program, our clear strategic direction and our organisational development through developing staff performance.
